Andre’s Cucina and Polenta Bar

andres-logoI’m going to make a bold statement; Andre’s Cucina & Polenta Bar is the best restaurant in Adelaide I’ve ever been to.

The owner and chef Andre Usini was a finalist in Masterchef in 2009 (God knows why he didn’t win, that man is pure genius). He is strongly influenced by his Northern Italian cultural heritage.

I went on Valentine’s Day; all loved up and sweeten up on champagne (my partner doesn’t drink, so I had enough for the both of us.)birdeye

We shared the amazing ‘Menu Fisso,’ banquet – a series of 4 courses that were brought out in periodically – and although stretching my price limit at $62 per person, it was a perfect option for a special occasion.

It was a feast of the finest Italian foods. We started off with a Carpaccio Assaggini grazing board.

Next course was a mouth-watering pasta dish.

1234_plateitThen we had a beautiful course of carne, pesce, polenta and contorni – I had to ask my Italian partner what a lot of these delicious authentic Italian foods were, I don’t have the luxury of comparing it to my nonna’s Italian cooking like he does (#jealous).

The meal finished with some beautifully sweet Italian donuts called Zeppole.

We were very full by the end but just managed to consume every last delectable mouthful.

The restaurant was completely full with happy, chattering patrons; all enjoying the magnificent courses and we received outstanding service from the waiters.

Definitely a 5 out of 5 stars for this amazing restaurant.
